On Friday 22nd August, Red Beach School had their Olympics day.
Different classes competed as a variety of 8 countries.
The opening ceremony was as they said “extraordinary.” There was different events like, boot throw, football, basketball, badminton and heaps of other fun sports.
Mark Scheib ( former Olympian ) spoke about his past and what a great experience it is as a Olympian and wished us all the best and “good luck.”
The Olympic torch (which was handed around all the classes) was pretty cool. As it was carried up to the stage, the countries went wiiiiiild. After the torch was of course, the Olympic flag! Maria, a year 6 student said “it was really cool how the different communities had different costumes.”
And Devon, a year 5 student said “it was crazy, flags were waving everywhere and everyone was having an awesome time.”
The day ended with a closing ceremony with classes receiving Gold, Silver and Bronze.
