Troll threatens scared-to-death trio. By Neil (Newspaper Report)

When, the Three Billy Goats Gruff tried to get over Green Bridge, Mr. Troll of Pastures Green, managed to scare and nearly eat them. Here is Reporter Lindsay with our top story.

When the trio realized that their side of Pastures Green was completely bare of grass, they tried to go to the other side of the bridge where the grass was completely jam-packed full of grass. “We needed that grass” said Little Billy Goat Gruff. But when they got to the bridge, Mr. Troll pounced. “He was a big meany” said Middle-sized Billy Goat Gruff. Mr. Troll then threatened to eat them.
Little and Middle-Sized Billy Goat Gruff managed to get to the other side leaving a final showdown.

Big Billy vs. Mr. Troll, the perfect showdown. As our photographer passed, a giant fight erupted with Mr. Troll getting poked in the eye and thrown into Sunnybun Stream. “I only wanted some food” said Mr. Troll. “I haven’t eaten in about 2 weeks”.

Our Reporters, have found out that Mr. Troll is recovering in Supernatural Creatures Hospital. “I’ll get those goats some day” he said. Mr. Troll is now trying to sue the triumphant trio for blinding his eye and making him nearly drown.

The troll upset! By Luke (Newspaper Report)

On the 1st of October in Spain, Barcelona, three goats had been disturbing angry troll!

Mr. Troll under the bridge had been complaining all day about the racket of the three goat’s hoofs. Mr. Troll said that” I just need sleep but those goats keep trotting over my bridge when I just get to sleep.

The three goats said that” we just wanted to get some food to eat”. The police are trying to catch the three goats but when the police see the three goats there to fast. Mr. Troll had said that” if I here those rackety hooligans trotting on my bridge again I will have goat stew for dinner.

Its day two now with the goat investigation still in hand with the goats still not found. The troll is so furious that the goats haven’t been found that he went out to find the goats.

Down a road near the three goats were running from five police animals. There was a fat old pig, a cheeky fox, Shaun the sheep, domo, and bugs bunny. The five police animals split up and the three goats couldn’t run anywhere.

So the three goats got sent to jail for a year and the troll lived wonderfully.

Spash! Crash! Boom! By Maria and Skyler (Creative Writing)

The Current is a rollercoaster twisting and turning in all directions. The experienced kayaker zoomed down the track. This man was training for the 2012 London Olympics.

Splish! Splosh! He rapidly curved a sharp corner, heading for some rough rocks. He swerved around the jagged rocks so smoothly; he probably could have done it blindfolded!

Waves crashed onto the slim, sleek kayak, splashing onto the man’s sweaty face.

I can already see this man standing on the first place podium, with a gold medal dangling around his neck.

Man's Best Friend. By Elliott and Bethany (Creative Writing)

The man stared mysteriously at the flashing camera.
While the dog whimpered continuously. When they were doing that the vine was twirling tightly, it twisted like spaghetti round a fork.
Just as they took a photo a bird whistled in the tree
And the whole Barcelonan countryside came to life with allsorts of sounds. The breeze sang through the dogs teeth. The man sedated with the dog in his arms.
Then his wife ran outside. The old wooden door creaked and cracked, in and out, in & out. She wanted to see the new spaniel. “Where is the furry bundle?” She cooed gently. When she was saying that the man just stood there like a royal statue.

Human Machines by Neil and Connor (Creative writing)

The glistening pure saltwater was a rushing light, reflecting and shining, as the workers labored until their brains would soon overheat. The wood planks wobbled beneath them, as they pulled the dirty, green nets out of the galvanized steel pipes. The cliffs overlooked the green, spotted mainland, with white sandy beaches and tall, giant palm trees. The boats circle the main, rusty workboat, getting closer and closer, ordering the workers to go faster and faster, slower and slower. The dirty, fly-covered rags of the filthy slaves litter the wooden planks with dirt, germs and viruses. The jaded workers wish they can go back to their grass bivouacs and tiny, uncared children.

They truly are human machines.

Absolutely Amazing Art Attack Auction. By Neil (Newspaper report)

It was a great day today, as Red Beach School held their art auction, the first time in 2 years. This all happened on the 19 and 20th of September, at their hall.

Firstly, as everything starts hard, all the children put in their best efforts to achieve a piece of artwork that they were all proud of. They were then left to put up in the auction. The art included Venice Masks, Dream Time, Tapa Cloths, Clowns and Pottery Fish.

Next, the hall was changed to look a bit like an actual art gallery. Boards and Carpet were brought in to make the dramatic effect happen. Finally, the art was brought in and stapled to the boards. Worker Graham Townsend had this to say “It was hard work putting up all those art”.

When the actual hall opened to the public, most of the parents had already arrived and were bidding consistently. The Art Attack was a big success and some art like Ruben Wiki and Barbara Kendall’s drawings sold for a lot. The Auction closed with around $18,000 being raised.

Child artist, Neil Lindsay said “I’m glad to make art that raises money for the school”

American trooper jailed from shark attack. By Neil (Newspaper Report)

Yesterday, on our very own day of Independence, at Chicago, Illinois, USA, A killer great white shark almost bit off the head of American Trooper Bill Shrub with Shrub killing the shark and jailed for 5 years.

Squad 245 of the American army was on a rescue mission. Bill was on a rescue ladder at the time when the 248 kg Great White Monster attacked from behind. “I really hate sharks now” he said.

Reacting quickly, he pulled out his handy pocket knife and stabbed the endangered species in the eye before killing it. His friends in the squad realized he was doing something illegal and called the police. The squad would not let him back in the helicopter and the police surrounded the ladder in about 10 minutes. He was jailed for 5 years in Chicago International Prison and had his army status revoked

Our President, George .W. Bush, who was passing in his limo at the current time had this to say “If people continue this onslaught against the Great White Shark, we will never have any more of these Great Giants in any American waters so if jailing is the only way, we have to do, what we have to do”.

Two men, one shark, one survivor. By Maria (Newspaper Report)

Sunday 7th September

Two divers were taking photos of a Great white shark at 5:30 last night, underneath the Svinesund Bridge between Sweden and Norway, when something they were not counting on struck…

Two Swedish divers, Johan Lindberg and Anders Nilsson, had heard the news that a Great white was swimming just outside Sweden. The two men had never seen a Great white before, so they decided to take some photos of it, to sell and get millions. They weren’t sure how dangerous the shark could get, so they ordered a helicopter, just incase things got too dangerous.

“Vi vet inte hur det hende, fasst vi tog nara kort, och sen blev hajen irriterad och borjade simma efter oss” Said Johan Lindberg. In English it is, “We don’t know how it happened, but we took some photos and then the shark got irritated and started swimming after us” “Jag tror att kamra blixten var for gjust for hajen sa den blev arg pa oss” Translation: “I think the camera flash was too bright for the shark so it got angry at us”

The men signaled for the helicopter to come down and save them. But only one survived. Johan was on the ladder when Anders was still in the water. The shark leaped out of the water to attack. There was only one thing the pilot of the helicopter could do. The pilot lifted the helicopter so the shark would miss Johan and have Anders as its dinner.

As the shark swept passed Johan, the shark took Johan’s right leg with him. The shark then landed on Anders. “Jag kunde bara lyfta upp helicoptern for att anarsh skulle hajen ata boda” Translation: “I could only lift the helicopter up, because otherwise the shark would eat both” Said Lasse Lonsater, the pilot of the helicopter.

Leaving his friend, eaten in tragedy, Johan (in the helicopter) rushed to the nearest hospital, to get surgery on his right leg. The doctor said that the chances of the recovery are high, though they still need some medication on Johan to get the shark’s bacteria out.

The Iron Hamster. By Luke (Creative writing)

The iron hamster was crawling slowly through the howling grass on the way to his path. He reached the brink of a cliff. He watched the sea move very slowly. The iron hamster was taller than a house, his eyes like the glowing stars shinning in the night sky. The iron hamster had walked far from his creator. The iron hamster was not at the brink of the any more, he was wondering of around the cliff as well as watching the sea moving slowly but getting faster as the howling wind was blowing. The Iron Man. By Aimee (Creative Writing)

The Iron Man came on a natural Friday afternoon,
How did he get here? Nobody knows.
Who was he? Nobody knows.
Why was he here? Nobody knows.
Does he have a friend walking with him? Nobody knows.
Why am I asking all these questions? Even I don’t know.
The Iron Man sat at the top of a mountain. Gazing, scanning the land for any sign of blue, splashing waves. His legs stretched a massive distance. His arms were shaped like rulers but they were as long as the rolling fields. His eyes were like enormous cups and his head as round as a bouncy ball. The Iron Man was exhausted. But just as he was resting he saw a simmering glimpse of a blanket of blue. He lifted his metal arm pointed to the sea. Too far of a distance he thought. The blazing, burning sun reflecting on his iron head. He could imagine the wind rippling against the cool water, and the sand drifting and splitting across the sunny beach. The wind sang through his iron fingers, he slowly got up prepared and ready for the journey he was going to take.

How do our eyes work? By Aimee (Explanation)

When you look at something you see different shades of light, which makes colour.

First light travels through the Cornea so you can look though a clear window. Then it goes into the Iris only letting a certain amount of light pass through the Pupil, the Pupil is an open door to the Eye. Once it’s in the eye it travels to the Lens. The Lens job is to focus on the light rays. After that it gets sent to the Retina, the Retina takes the light that your eye receives and changes it into nerve signals. The nerve signals get sent to the Optic nerve that leads the nerve signals up a pipe to the brain.

They turn into nerve signals so when they get sent to the brain the brain can understand what you are seeing.

Cigarettes should be banned. By Maria (Persuasive writing)

Cigarettes should have never been invented. It is only a little tube, which you stick between your fingers. This little tube contains poison and addiction that you suck into you lungs…

Opinion 1: Cigarettes are unhealthy. If you smoke too much, you can die. It brings nothing but bad things. People just drop them anywhere. It creates litter as well.

Opinion 2: People think it’s cool to smoke. I think it’s cool not to smoke. Whenever I walk past a “cool” person who is smoking, I always have to hold my breath. It would be much easier if there were no cigarettes.

Opinion 3: People think it helps to wind down a window of a car, when they smoke. If they have kids in the back, it certainly does NOT help. The wind just pushes the smoke back into a car for people to breathe and get black lungs.

Conclusion: All cigarettes do is they kill people and brings pollution to the Earth. That is why I think cigarettes should be banned.

Red Beach School Olympics ‘wow’ Crowd. By Neil (Newspaper report)

It was a great day on Friday as the Red Beach School Olympics were held, the first time in 4 years.

It started of with a great opening ceremony, as the countries, Australia, Fiji, Ghana, Italy, Japan, our very own New Zealand, Samoa and China paraded through the corridor and onto the stage. Next was a speech from Olympian and Red Beach School parent Mark Scheib. “It was great experience at those games” he said. After that came the arrival of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch and the RBS torch followed by the Olympic flag. A speech finished off the ceremony with Red Beach School students, Amber and Sarah declaring the games open.

Next came the sports including Basketball, Soccer, ‘Putting’ the gumboot, Shot Put and Archery. The countries put in their best efforts to try achieve their goals of Olympic Glory. The sports went on for the entire day, only to be stopped for the closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony finished off these Great Games. First up another Olympian and proud Red Beach School parent Mr. Gus Nkeita spoke about the Olympics and how well they had done. Next up was the medal ceremony with each country at least getting 1 medal. Lastly Mr. Nkeita and Ms Martin closed the games.

At the end of the games Samoan Athlete and Red Beach Student Neil Lindsay said “I put a lot of effort into this and I’m glad I actually got through this day!”

Red Beach School gets involved with the games. By Skyler (newspaper report)

Wednesday 27th August

Last Friday the Red Beach School Olympics returned with spectacular athletes all from different counties.

Most of the countries got medals. It was a big opening ceremony with every country with a flag or a banner. I was glad to be there

There were lots of different sports like: Soccer, basketball, badminton and much much more.

One day I might be an Olympian in London. “When I was in Barcelona, I knew it wasn’t about winning, it was about being there and participating” said Mr. Scheib.
