It was a dramatic victory at the R B S Cross Country as Harry, 11 picked up 3rd in the Year 6 Cross Country event.
Harry of Room 11 started the race badly, barely getting past the rampage of other competitors. As soon as he got to Lucy Foster Lane he pulled the hammer down. “I gained a lot of places at that hill” he said.
He stayed with the leaders until he slowed down a bit allowing the leaders to round the corner onto Red Beach Road. After passing Red Beach Road and rounding onto the field he knew 1st and 2nd could not be taken. The race for 3rd was on.
On the final lap it was a very entertaining sprinting finish between best friends Harry and Alex W., also of Room 11, with Harry picking up the 3rd in dramatic style, Sam D. of Room 15 getting 2nd and Lewis G. of Room 9 grabbing 1st.
At the end of the race, Harry said “I did my best and that’s all I can ask for”.

I think that you did really well with your direct speech but i think you need to have some reported speech in there as well. otherwise i think you did really well. just try a bit harder.
